When a band is able to perform without any instruments

I discovered this week’s Substack Session song back in the 1980s when Huey Lewis & The News released their album - Fore! - in 1986. I already bought their smash hit album - Sports - with not a dull song on it. I can only imagine how incredible the pressure must have been to follow up that album. Right now while writing these lines and digging up some memories that could work as my background knowledge, I noticed that I couldn’t find their biggest hit - The Power of Love - on their 1986 Fore! album on any of the digital music platforms. But I was sure that it was on it. So I checked in my vinyl album collection and there it was. Now I’m not sure if - The Power of Love - was only included in the European album release back then to push their new album. But now let’s focus on a song that was further back on that album. On vinyl it was right before the last song - Simple As That. The song is called - Naturally - Apple Music | YouTube Music.

An a-cappella tune that beams you right back to those old barbershop ensembles and I was sure one day I’m going to play that song on my guitar.
