Back in my teenage years my older sisters’ friends listened to Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, AC/DC and other rock bands of the seventies. So I got sucked into a universe of Led Zeppelin, Queen, Rainbow, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and many others.
And as an ancient album sleeve reader I read every note from the song titles down to the Ⓟ & © 1978. And so I knew who played on the album, engineered it and at which studio they recorded it. Through this I discovered that David Coverdale (Deep Purple/Whitesnake) was more than just a excellent rock singer, but a great R&B singer with songs that the average Deep Purple and Whitesnake listener never heard. And there it was on his solo album Northwinds - Time & Again - Apple Music | YouTube Music . A song that I listened to for over forty years and when David Coverdale released a remastered version of it last year, I said it’s definitely time to learn this classic.
