Fingerpicking and melody lines
When I’m performing at different size venues my biggest problem always is that if I perform a song that I pick with my fingers most of the time the song just simply tanks because of all the noise in the place, especially when I play really unplugged.
For several songs in my repertoire I had to find different ways to perform them with a pick and with sometimes different keys to get a more robust sound on my acoustic guitar. Fragile by Sting, Dust In The Wind by Kansas and this week’s Substack Sessions song - Stop This Train - Apple Music | YouTube Music by John Mayer were among them.
Now you can compare this to my more open picking approach.
Here’s the good morning version from my ‘Start Your Day With A Song’-series on my YouTube channel.
